Full-time | Day Shift (Monday–Friday)

Role Summary:


A leading biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturer is seeking a QC Microbiologist to join their dynamic Quality Control team. This role offers a valuable opportunity to apply your microbiology expertise in a highly cross-functional and fast-paced laboratory environment.

You’ll be responsible for conducting critical microbiological testing and supporting the broader site teams to ensure that all products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Working as part of a flexible and collaborative team, you’ll gain exposure across all key areas of a microbiology function, supporting both routine operations and ongoing projects.

This is a full-time, on-site day role, with occasional flexibility required for shift changes or overtime during peak activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Microbiological Testing & Technical Expertise

Perform a broad range of microbiological testing, including water sampling, environmental monitoring, growth promotion, sterility testing, plate reading, microbial identification, and endotoxin analysis

Ensure all microbiological testing is conducted in line with approved methodologies, cGMP standards, and internal SOPs

Provide subject matter expertise to cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Validation, Manufacturing, and Qualified Persons

Documentation & Compliance

Conduct batch record and documentation reviews in support of product release

Maintain accurate, inspection-ready records and contribute to the maintenance of microbiological quality systems

Support regulatory inspections, audits, and site tours by presenting QC Microbiology capabilities and compliance records

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Serve as a representative for the QC Microbiology function in cross-functional meetings and site initiatives

Contribute to ongoing lab-based continuous improvement activities

Support project work, instrumentation requalifications, and lab readiness efforts

Promote and maintain safe working practices in accordance with site policies

Qualifications & Experience:

Education & Background

Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline

Industry Experience

2–3 years' experience in a microbiology role within a pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated setting is highly desirable

Hands-on experience with plate reading, sterility and endotoxin testing, and microbiological instrumentation is preferred

Skills & Knowledge

Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g., Veeva, Qualipso) and Laboratory Information Management Systems (e.g., LUNA)

Strong working knowledge of cGMP standards and microbiological best practices

Understanding of environmental monitoring and cleanroom protocols

Awareness of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and their application in lab operations

Soft Skills

Clear and confident communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments

Self-motivated, proactive, and focused on delivering high-quality outcomes

Strong organisational skills and an ability to manage tasks independently
